saturday morning is dead

i've done something i haven't done in a while, which is stay up past sunrise. i was archiving my cd's and channel surfing when i realized it was saturday morning, so i flipped to the networks hoping to catch a halfway decent cartoon. and do you know what i found? nothing! zilch. granted i didn't search for more than an hour, but i should have found something immature and animated. Am i wrong? was i too early or too late for the cartoons? all i saw was bob vila and the newest incarnation of the power rangers, which was way dumber than i remember. did kids abandon saturday morning for GTA and skateboards? did tv abandon children for infomercials and home improvement? what happened to the looney tunes, or tom and jerry, or hell even the crappy disney cartoons? i'm sure calvin and hobbes are rolling in they're graves right now. I know i was pissed. I eventually gave up with power rangers and turned it to bosom buddies.

Yeah, it's totally weird. Some channels don't have cartoons at all, and some only have like, 1-1 1/2. It's baffling. And they have cartoons after school, right? Well, the WB has announced that in January they will be discontinuing their after school cartoons and rerun sitcoms instead, due to lack of "advertiser interest." I blame Disney, Nickelodian, Cartoon network and DVD players. I think that now that children can watch cartoons anytime they want day or night, they don't need to get up early on Saturday to watch. Thank you very much, technology, you've ruined my memories.
