K-num's Movie Korner

As most of you know , I, along with most of my friends, are huge movie buffs. My taste has been called into question a few times, but I think it's stood fast over the years. That's why I hope the following reviews will be agreeable to most. If not I'm sure i'll hear about it.

Kung Fu Hustle

As a kid I really dug on old kung fu movies, Bruce Lee and Sammo Hung flicks especially. I also really dug on the old WB Merry Melodies. If you would have told me that there's movie out there that gives me the best of both these categories I would have laughed in your face. But I saw it with my own two eyes. And it is amazing. The story is surprisingly good, albeit a little hokey. It has some beautiful and weird special effects, and the characters are likeable and outrageous. And it's fucking hilarious. Oh and the fighting. None of this gliding through the treetops Crouching tiger crap. This is good old hong kong fu baby! Well there is flying, but the fighting is down and dirty. This movie rules. I want to see it again, very soon. I know i'm not a very good movie reviewer. I'm sure I would end up sounding much more eloquent if I didn't like it. Nevertheless, if you can find a theatre playing the hustle, go now. Don't even finish reading this blog. Oh and by the way, Wachowski brothers, your kung fu is weak, who is your master? That's right. It's Stephen Chow.

Batman: Mask of The Phantasm

Everybody seems to really dig on the new batman movie. I *and i'm probably alone on this* still haven't seen it. Hopefully i'll get to see it soon. When I was younger I watched the batman cartoon, but I never really got into it. Regardless of this what I have seen recently on cable was Batman:MOP. All I have to say is this. WHY the hell didn't anybody tell me about this movie!? It's good. Really, really good. The origin backplot is awesome, as is the entire story in general. This is a script that I think is better than most blockbusters that hollywood is farting out these days. The ending is especially cool. It's kinda like reading a really good batman GN. I loved it.

So there you have it. A couple of really good movies, in my opinion. Judge for yourself I guess.

Oh yeah, also, I got my labret pierced.

New? Computer

New? actually means new to me. It's actually sort of Frankenputer. Loren gave me the computer, mouse, and keyboard, and the monitor i got from candace. Now all i need is a powercable to actually plug the damn thing in. of course i'm also going to want more memory and possibly more hard drive space soon. but just the basics for right now. any other suggestions? it's already got a two disc drives, one a dvd drive, the other a cd-r. Jackpot. thank you loren.

long, strange, journey blahblahblah

akon was indeed fun. got lots of good pics. wish i had more money though. the adams mark freaking rules! i hope every single akon is there from now on. saw some people i wanted to see. saw some i didn't. met some new friends too. will definitely be going back next year. something happened though. apparently akon disabled my ability to type complete sentences. oh well......

last train to a-kon

this is the probably the last post here for a week. loren and i are leaving for akon tomorrow morning. i hope i have fun. i damn well better, i had to hawk my guitar just so i could have some money to take (i'm sure most of it will be spent on gas and food.) i might knock over a convenience store while i'm denton. josh are you with me. i was thinking of hawking my psp, but that's my nerd bling. i can't get rid of that. besides i worked too damn hard for it. *sigh* now if only i had games for it.
just a heads up to anyone that hasn't been paying attention. loren and i are leaving at nine tomorrow. we have to be at the hotel at 2pm for a staff meeting. after that we are free. and denton bound. loren said something about visiting her parents. i dunno. i know i'll be there though.
i better see everybody dangit!
