Moments in Time

I've decided to relive old memories on my blog. I was reminded of a very specific memory this morning and I thought that it would be nice to transcribe it. Just in case one day I go senile and cant remember it, I can read it maybe. I was sitting at the bus stop listening to my ipod at 730 am. The song was on shuffle and switched to Dissident by Pearl Jam. I was sent back to 1993. 8th grade. My mom used to work at this crappy home for mentally handicapped kids. Alot of the time I would go to work with her, mainly out of utter boredom. She worked the overnight shift. I had just gotten versus. I bought it from cd warehouse the day it came out. I listened to it constantly for almost a week. I also bought a shirt with the album cover on it. One night I went to work with mom. There was this guy that worked there sometimes that went to UNT. I dont remember his name. He was pretty a cute guy, early twenties. He looked at my shirt and then said 'You know Pearl Jam is playing here really soon'. I said yeah in dallas im sure, wish I had a way out there. Mom worked alot and I didnt know anyone with a car that would be willing to take me out there. 'No' he said. 'In Denton'. When he said those words I swear to god my heart stopped beating. I could barely get out a 'what?' He said yeah they're playing at the UNT coliseum. Tickets go on sale next week. Im going to wait in line for them. You wanna come with and wait with me to get some tickets. You have to be a student at UNT but I can buy one for you. Im just guessing this is what he said. At that moment the only thing I could hear was a little voice in my head saying 'holycrapholycrapholycrapholycrapholycrapholycrap' He asked mom if it was ok and she said sure. She even payed for my ticket. I couldnt believe it. Not only were they playing in Denton, but they were playing within walking distance of my place. Like less than a mile.
The next day I was sitting outside at 8am in the morning in thirty degree weather with no coat waiting in line with a bunch of college students for pearl jam tickets. There were a lot of people there who felt real bad for me cause i was shivering the whole time. I got a lot of free food and hot chocolate. I got to hang out with some really cool college kids. Most of them were freshman I think. I felt really cool though
Eventually it warmed up a bit and the line started to shorten. They told me I could wait at a bench while they bought my ticket. An hour later they came back with a ticket to see pearl jam. Two weeks later I saw them. The coliseum is a pretty cool place to see a concert. BTW this is the very first concert I ever went to. The buttholes surfers opened up for them. They were weird, but really cool. I remember on their last song Gibby Haynes unscrewed the top of the hi hat off and poured lighter fluid in it, lit it, and started hitting it. Everytime he hit it, the flames went higher and higher. It was pretty sweet. Right as they were leaving the stage, Gibby said 'ok stick around, up next is stone temple pilots'. At the time they were very closely compared to each other. Stp was often accused of ripping off PJ's sound.
After about 40 minutes they came on. The opened with Go of course really awesome song. They played everything from versus and alot from ten. I remember them playing black. That was really cool. What stood out the most was Dissident though. This was and still is my fav Pearl Jam song of all time. When they played it, I was...im not sure I can even describe it. I was in tears im pretty sure. I was probably making a fool of myself, singing along at the top of my lungs. I could have died right then completely happy. I was elevated. All this sounds completely corny, but its true. That night when I went home I didnt sleep, I just listened to more pearl jam for quite some time. That was one of the greatest moments of my life.

ps. this is the longest post I have ever written. If you didnt read it all i wont hold it against you

Weekly Hotness

This week is Zooey. Zooey Deschanel. I even love her name. *sigh* Soooo hot! The sad thing is that seeing her is only half of the reason she's hot. I also love her voice! If I ever met her I would probably either have a heart attack or simply just stand there and stutter at her. Enjoy!

Josh is my best friend, and has been for a long time. He's smart and funny, and I sometimes wish I had never moved away, even though i'm doing pretty well here in Austin. I will come visit sometime soon. Im buying my roomates car from him next month, so i'll have transportation. Hope you guys have a great time. Happy b-day Josh. I love you!

The prodigal son returns....

Yes its true. I didnt believe it at first myself when mom told me, but once I heard his voice over the phone I was convinced. Farley is Back! Can you believe it? He's been gone for over a month. He remembered exactly where he lived. Mom was crying when she called to tell me, and even I got a little choked up. Now there is no denying. Farley is the best cat ever.

believe it or....well just freakin believe it

Again I have gone almost a week without posting. 99.999 percent of the time this is either because i dont have something to post about, or am in a funk because the blog doesnt get read. Well let me say this now. For perhaps the first time since i've had this blog, i've been too busy. You heard me. I did not have the time to blog. I know its shocking that it wasnt to sheer laziness but simple time contraints. I can hardly believe it myself. Between moving and work and everything else im lucky i've been able to sleep my normal three to four hours a night. This will probably continue until sometime next week, when we're settled in a bit. Maybe we'll even have a housewarming party. Who knows.
So the real reason for this post, other than bitching is to post what i wanted to for the past few days and never got a chance too. We'll call it PastPosting. Hey I kinda like that. Patent Pending.

For my first post I would like to talk serious for a second. I have an addiction. Its one I am ashamed of, but one I must confess nonetheless. Its seems to have taken the place of smoking, or at least my oral fixation. And it's left me with breath fresher than anyone should ever have.

Hello, my name is Cainnum, and I am a 'toidaholic. When I use, I only use peppermint. Sometimes I'll have one, and then thirty seconds later i'll have another. One time I was out of altoids and i saw something in the floor that looked like one, so I ate it. It wasnt an altoid. I'm not sure what it was, but I awoke several hours later, laying naked in the bushes with my pants wrapped around my head. Someone please help me.

Next up. ACL festival. I am going. I will be the first one there and the last one leaving. This is the greatest lineup for any music festival I have ever seen. Its like they built this lineup just for me. Aimee Mann, Phoenix, Van Morrisson. And my favorite band of all time probably. I have fantasized about seeing Sparklehorse before, and now im actually going to get a chance to. If you ask me $115 for a three day ticket is too cheap, but i'm not complaining. I loved seeing the pixies at acl fest two years ago, but this IMO is a much better line up. No dashboard confessional for starters. God I cannot wait! ahem sorry. Btw I may also attempt some sort of liveblogging thing, they should have the outdoor mesh at zilker park by then.

Lastly, the wedding. I havent been to a wedding since I was eleven. I thought about not going, but i was formally invited, so that would have been really rude of me. I didnt even bother looking for a date, b/c i know where that would have ended up. I am taking my brother and his GF, so at least ill have someone to drink with. Sigh, now I have to buy clothes. And I was thinking of renting a car. Its in SA, and I dont want to have to borrow mom's truck. Anyone have any tips on weddings? Btw thanks for commenting shaw, you should do that all the time. And tell amanda to come and comment too.

Ok that should make up for a week. If not well then your mother. Laters
